I was Born August 28, 1972 at Community East Hospital, Indianapolis, IN at 11:11 PM I've always loved to paint and draw. I knew at an early age that I wanted to be an artist. It was a struggle, my skills did not develop quickly, but my desire to succeed was strong. In order to deveope my artistic skills, I completed many paint by numbers books and would try to duplicate scenes from comic books. I went through many tutorials on step by step drawing. I seriously started to work with paint and canvas around 1992. I was 19 years old and taking courses at Indiana University (Bloomington Campus). I was pretty good at drawing certain things. I could create decent cartoon imagery, and could draw something that looked real enough that you would not mistake what your looking at, but I was still not satisfied with my results. My concepts always overshadowed my skill level. in 1993 I took a course on teaching yourself how to draw and at the same time was reading "drawing from the right side of the brain", by Betty Edwards. This book was a breakthrough in my ability to draw realistic imagery. The course was basically a large list of art projects that I choose from and completed myself, then turned my work in at an evaluation with grad students from the School of Education. They would critique my work and I would have a chance to rework it based off their observations. The combinations of this book and the drawing course seemed to connect the dots that were elusive to me in my earlier years. It was only after I could accurately draw reality that I could truly draw the surreal abstractions I can see in my mind. I was finally getting the results I wanted. WORK: I am a graphic designer/artist by trade. I work in product development, packaging design, advertisement design, 3D modeling and texturing of products. I am also able to design and code games that you can play on the internet. Play: I currently play in a few accoustic groups. and try to stick close to home when gigging. I toured for a while with a band and played in a lot of locations, including: Jamaica, California, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Winsconcson, Michigan, etc... While I do get paid, I'd still call it play.
